Marjen

Privacy Policy

Effective 16 September 2026 · Lochrann Labs LLC ("we", "us") · Applies to the Marjen apps for iPad, iPhone, Mac and Apple Watch

Marjen is built so that your notes stay yours. We run no accounts, no analytics and no advertising. Your data lives in your iCloud, and it leaves your device only for the features you switch on, to the services named below.

What Marjen stores, and where

Notebooks, handwriting, typed notes, tasks, projects, people and places, meeting recordings and transcripts, calendar links and settings are stored on your device and synced through iCloud (CloudKit) to your other devices signed in to the same Apple Account. Apple's iCloud terms apply to that storage. We do not operate a server that holds your content, and we cannot read your iCloud data.

Marjen can also write an automatic backup of your data to your iCloud Drive. Those files are protected with the same on-device encryption as the app's own data.

What leaves your device, and why

Every item below is off until you turn it on in Settings → AI & Privacy or by connecting the service, and each is explained in the app before the first use.

FeatureWhat is sentTo whom
Assistant, planning routines, task and project buildingThe notes, tasks and context relevant to your request; your first name and, if you allow it, an approximate location labelAnthropic (Claude), through our proxy
Handwriting to text, photographed calendarsThe page image you chooseAnthropic (Claude), through our proxy
Meeting notesThe audio you record, for transcription; the transcript, for the summaryDeepgram (transcription) and Anthropic (summary), through our proxy
Notion exportThe page or meeting you exportNotion, using the account you connect
Google or Microsoft calendar and mailNothing is uploaded; Marjen reads events and messages from the account you connectGoogle / Microsoft, using OAuth; tokens stay in your device Keychain

Our proxy is a small service we run on Cloudflare. It adds our API credentials and forwards the request; it does not store the contents of what you send. Cloudflare keeps standard technical request logs (time, size, status) for a short period. Anthropic and Deepgram process your content under their API terms and do not use it to train their models; Marjen opts out of Deepgram's model-improvement program on every request.

Data we never collect

Device features Marjen may ask for

Camera (photos for tasks and notes), Contacts (linking a person to a contact), Calendars (showing your events), Location while in use (answering local questions and place reminders), Health (steps and sleep on Today), Face ID or Touch ID (unlocking protected notebooks), Local Network (recording on a nearby iPhone while you write on the iPad), Microphone (meeting recordings). Each is optional and requested only when you use the feature.

Security

Data on your device is protected by Apple's file encryption and is unavailable while the device is locked. Notebook passwords are never stored; a stretched, salted proof is kept so any of your devices can verify the password. Requests to our proxy are authenticated with Apple's App Attest so only genuine copies of Marjen can use it.

Children

Marjen is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your choices and rights

You can turn every AI feature off at any time, disconnect any service, delete recordings and notebooks, and remove all Marjen data from iCloud in iOS Settings → Apple Account → iCloud → Manage Storage. Because we hold no copy of your content, deleting it there deletes it everywhere. For anything else, including requests under GDPR, UK GDPR or CCPA, email privacy@lochrannlabs.com.

Changes

We will post any change here and update the effective date. Material changes are also announced in the app before they take effect.
